Hanai Yusuke and Takahiro Arai in the studio

Our second Lazy Friends to come visit us at the studio were Mr. Yusuke Hanai and his good friend Mr. Takahiro Arai.

First, Mr. Hanai. He designed the logo for the program, and my caricature. He is an great artist that I have been following the last several years, and I am glad that we finally were actually able to do something together. Here is his home page, check it out.
He has been making the posters for a Restaurant run by a very dear friend of mine, called THE ROAD AND THE SKY.
And from here he has expanded out and he now regularly shows his work here in Japan and in the United States. He recently had a showing at the Green Room Festival. While many artists stood by their booths and sold their work, you could find Yusuke at the Road And The Sky food stand knocking back the suds in true surfer fashion.

花井君はこの番組のロゴと僕の似顔絵を描いてくれた人。彼はイカしたアーティストで、僕はここ数年ずっと注目してきた。今回こうしてやっと一緒に仕事をすることができて、本当に嬉しい。

僕の大切な友人がやっているThe road and the skyというレストランのポスターも彼がずっと描いてくれている。そこから彼の世界が広がっていって、今では日本とアメリカで定期的に作品の展示会を行っているんだ。
最近では、グリーン・ルーム・フェスティバルでも展示会をやっていた。ほとんどのアーティストが自分のブースに立ち寄って作品を売っている一方、祐介はThe Road and the skyのフードスタンドでビールを飲みまくっていた。もう、どうしようもないくらいの『サーファー』なんだよな。

今回祐介は友達を連れて来た。まあ、しょっちゅうのことなんだけど。荒井隆宏君という、彼もまたThe Road and the skyに関わりのある人物。2人とも昔そこで働いていたんだ。
