Crocs

Aloha,

When I was in Hawaii last month, I saw a lot of people wearing these funny looking, but wonderfully chemically colorful shoes. (Can someone please fix the previous sentence if it is grammatically incorrect). They looked kind of like clogs, but instead of being fabricated out of wood or leather, they were made out of some sort of plastic substance, soft to the touch, but actually quite durable looking. (Yes, the future was in Plastics!) You could find them all over the place. They were almost as popular as flip-flops. I figured I would just pick up a pair before I left the islands, but you know, when you can find them anywhere, you keep putting off buying them, and then you realize that you are on a plane flying away, WITHOUT THE SHOES!

So the other day, I actually went to a store in Kamakura and got some so
take a look. They are called Crocs.


So, what do you think? They had all these beautiful colors, but I picked this very conservative one. I mean, I can wear any color in Kamakura of these funny looking shoes, but even this color, might not be acceptable business attire for Tokyo eh? I was wondering if they go together with my business attire, which usually consists of shorts and an aloha shirt?

I do have one concern regarding these shoes here in Japan, and that is: Will I still be able to eat at Izakaya’s? Hey, someone just might mistake them for bathroom slippers.
